How to: boyish half-slicked hairstyle

Edgy, modern and simple are words that come to mind when describing Jeremy Laing’s fall 2012 collection. The hair directly flattered the whole collection with its boyish, slicked style that looks slightly greasy and a little bit androgynous.

What is good about this hairstyle is that you can wear this not just for this fall but also for spring or summer because of its wet look effect. Justin German, the hairstylist for Jeremy Laing’s show, described the hair as “extremely current without any reference to any another decade” but it wouldn’t take too much effort to translate the style with a rockabilly twist.

The secret to this fall 2012 hairstyle is to just make it look a little bit slick but not totally wet all over, so to achieve this look, here are the quick and easy steps:

How to: boyish half-slicked hairstyle

It is important for the hair to have body and texture so put on mousse generously and then blow dry your hair while back combing the top of the hair.

Pull the hair into an almost French twist at the back (underneath the hair) leaving a section on top of the twist.
Wet your hair a little and use a flat iron to straighten then hair on the top section and back comb it to achieve the boyish slick hairstyle.
Finally, apply some wax (just enough to hold the hairstyle) and a shining spray serum for it to look slightly wet on top. Quick tip: If you have a lot of time, it would be best if you clip your hair to hold the back combed slick hairstyle in place until you’re ready to go out into the world. This will ensure the style stays in place for longer.
