The Stripe Braid (or Ladder Braid) Ponytail
This "stripe braid ponytail" is a variation of a hairstyle we posted last week, which can be found here: Stripe overlay braid.
This would be a cute hairstyle for school, dance, gymnastics, and other sports or occasions. We love these hairstyles that look unique and intricate, but are actually pretty easy and quick to complete. The Princess has been wearing this braided ponytail to school quite often this year (since it only takes about 5 minutes to create!)
As shown in the hairstyle pictures above, you could combine the stripe overlay hairstyle and the stripe ponytail (video below) to make a "double overlay braid hairstyle." You could also try wrapping the braid up into a "striped bun" for another fun variation. We even made this ponytail with the strands crossing over each other (forming X's) instead of going straight across the other day for a fun criss cross ponytail. I should have taken pictures! The possibilities of hair styles that can be created using this braid really are endless. If you try a style using this braid, we would love to see pictures on our facebook page!
Video Tutorial:
P.S. If you are planning on using this ponytail hairstyle for sports, I would suggest taking a strand out on BOTH sides of the first braid (instead of just the inside strand as shown in our video.) Then, as you are making the second braid, wrap the outside strand (that was taken out) under the ponytail and add it in as you are braiding. This way, there will be strands wrapped around the front and the back of the ponytail for a more secure hold. Hope that makes sense!
