The importance of having a hairstyle that goes with a collection when it’s presented can’t be stressed enough. Hairstyles can be considered as the crowning glory of the overall styling both literally and figuratively. For the Miu Miu autumn / winter 2013 show, it was double the braids, double the glam with the hairstyle created by Redken’s Guido Palau.
With a collection that had a lot of heavy coats in different textures and colors, it was only fitting that the models were given a “small head” to balance everything out. How to: double braided buns
Start by prepping damp hair with some heat protecting spray to keep your hair healthy.
Next, blow dry your hair straight for that sleek and clean look. Doing this with a paddle brush will yield good results. You can also use a straightening hair iron for a sleeker look.
Take some hair gel, like Redken Hardwear 16 Super Strong Gel, and apply it all over your hair. This will give your hair the sheen needed to pull this look off and it will also keep all the strands in place.
Section your hair into two, much like how you would when doing pigtails. Create a center part and make it go all the way through to the back of your head. Then on the front section, create a deep side part (the Miu Miu part is on the left side of the head). Make the side part end on the crown of your head, leaving the center part on the back of your head untouched.
Take one section and start braiding from behind your ears. Make sure the braid is very tight and sleek. You can add an extra amount of gel to the section you will be braiding to keep everything clean. Once you’ve done the braid, roll in into a bun right above the nape and neatly secure the end of the braid under the bun with a bobby pin. Do this again to the other section.
Once the buns are done (make sure they are even), secure your hairstyle by spraying on some hairspray. A light coat will do because you’ve already applied gel into you hair.
While it may require an extra amount of hair product, this hairstyle is still very easy to do. You truly get the best of both worlds with this look because it’s a mix of classic and modern. It’s fun yet still grown up enough that you can even wear it to more formal occasions.

How to: Carolina Herrera vintage double rolls
First things first, you will need to protect your hair by applying some heat protecting spray. For the Carolina Herrera show, Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection was used.
If you have thin hair, give some body to it by applying some volumizing mousse onto your hair. If you think your hair has enough volume then you can skip the product and just go on to the next step.
To get that sleek and modern look, blow dry your hair straight and then apply styling cream like Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to give your hair some sheen. Since the style is close to the head, apply a bit more of the cream at the top of your head.
Now it’s time to section your hair. Create a strong center part and then create three sections. The first two are the front part of your hair (one on each side) and the third starts behind your ear and all the way to the back. Make sure all sections start at the crown of your head all the way to the tips. You can use clips to secure and hold the sections as you go to the next step.
Tip: If you have thin hair you can backcomb your hair first about 2 inches from the crown before you proceed to creating the rolls.
Next step is to roll or twist your hair. Start with one section in front and roll it very tightly. Secure it with a pin behind the ear. Then take the remaining strands of the roll, twist it and make it cross to behind opposite ear where you’ll pin it. Do this again to the other front section of your hair. The crisscross section of the two front rolls will hold the back section of your hair.
Take the third and last section of your hair and raise it slightly above the nape. Roll your hair just like you did with the front two sections but roll it upwards and make sure that it’s a bit wider for contrast and a more dramatic effect. Tuck the rolled section in the crisscrossed front sections and secure it with pins.
To smooth out any fly away strands, take some more of your styling cream and apply it to the loose strands.
Finish your hairstyle by lightly misting on some hairspray to keep everything in place. For the show, Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray was used for extra shine.

How to: Alice + Olivia’s messy crown braids
Start by prepping your hair by applying some heat protecting spray like Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection which was used for the show. This will protect your hair from the heat of the blow dryer.
To help you in styling your hair, the next thing you should do is to apply volumizing mousse. Mousse effectively aids in styling and gives hair volume.
Next, dry your hair straight with a blow dryer but make sure you lift the roots of your hair with your fingers to maintain that natural look.
Once your hair is dried, create a center part and then pull your hair back. Make sure you sweep your hair over your ears so that it somewhat covers them and let loose strands fall freely in front of your face. This will help your get that edgy / messy look.
Once your hair is gathered on your nape, divide it into sections and braid each one. Make sure the braids are loose and wide to really get that messy look. Keep the braids close together so they’ll make a nice crown.
After you’ve done the braids, cross them in opposite directions and then bring them up towards the crown of your head until they meet. Make sure the two braids blend and then secure them with a pin.

The asymmetrical undercut offers you the chance to go utterly fresh in your rebellion, that is if you do want to stand out more while making the most out of the 2013 men’s hairstyles and haircuts. How to: men’s asymmetrical undercut
If you’re knowledgable about hair cutting and want to try this cut on yourself or someone else (or if you need instructions to pass onto someone else doing your cutting) check out the video from Toni+Guy as well as the instructions below.
Before proceeding with the actual cut, make sure you wear your hair the right way. In case you’re not certain, you can always ask your stylist to take a look at the hair line in order to point it in the right direction.
First thing you should do is section out a slight asymmetric horse shoe. This should start on the shorter side and dip down on the other side a little bit lower.
After that proceed the block graduation underneath, a process that fast eliminates the length and weight. It is best done at one finger’s depth.
Once you’re done with the block graduation, follow onto the same path and spend a little extra time doing the scissor over comb. This will assure the hair to grow out a lot nicer.
Now is when you can drop the top and by starting at the higher side of the horse shoe, proceed to point cut a square line overdirecting straight to the front area. Work to each previous section, layering a bit more and avoiding the top area to become too asymmetrical.

How to style the asymmetrical undercut
As we previously established, you will be needing one product only in order to properly style the asymmetrical undercut and that product is the hair wax. Undercuts look particularly attractive when the top hair has a lot of volume and shine. By applying a little bit of wax onto your hands, rub it through the top section of hair moving it around until finding the style that suits you best.
