The Rag & Bone fall 2012 collection was all about sophistication with high cinched waists, riding jackets and a feast of fabrics from brocade to ikat knits. Complementary to the British countryside and Indian inspirations of the collection was the textured rock ‘n’ roll hairstyle that really added character to the whole look on the runway. The hair is rough and has a dreadlock-like wave that makes it look a little bit messy and unkempt with a bedhead feel.

Guido Palau created Rag & Bone’s fall 2012 hairstyle which is very textured, heavy with a cool grungy style. Palau mentioned that this hairstyle is “sexy but feels a bit more clumpy”. This would be a good change from your straight, clean and polished hair that you wear to work everyday. It’s a striking contrast to mix a flawless outfit with messy, textured rock ‘n’ roll hair. How to: textured rock chic hair

With your hair still damp, generously apply a volumizing mouse to lock in the texture. Part the hair in the middle and blow dry the hair using just your fingers instead of a brush.

If your hair is dead straight with no natural waves, use a 1 inch curling iron to get a little bend. Make the waves look very natural and a little messy. Tip: for messy waves, alternate between curling strands towards and away from the face.

Once the hair is very dry, use a sculptural paste (the team at Rag & Bone used Redken Rough Paste 12) that gives the hair a rough and ragged texture that is manageable. Twist the hair into long sections to create that chunky look that looks like dreadlocks.

To finish the look, roughen up the hair on the crown of your head to give it that sexy just-got-out-of-bed look. The mixture of mousse and paste makes the hair look tougher and more rock ‘n’ roll!
