How to: Bottega Veneta’s cinematic soft curls

Extravagance and luxury are two words that best describe Bottega Veneta’s fall / winter 2013 collection. To go with the collection a hairstyle that was real and irresistible was needed, and the responsibility of creating such a hairstyle fell into the very creative and able hands of Guido Palau, creative director of Redken.

Drawing inspiration from old Hollywood glamour, more specifically the actresses of both the 40s and the 70s, Guido was able to create a 2013 hairstyle with soft curls and a side part that gives off a very cinematic vibe. Luxurious, sexy and elegant, you can have this hairstyle for yourself in a few easy steps. Get the complete how-to right after the break.

How to: Bottega Veneta’s cinematic soft curls

Start by applying Redken’s guts 10 root targeted volumizing spray foam from roots to ends to create volume and a base for styling.
Roughly dry your hair. Once dry, make a deep side part then mist hair all over with Redken iron shape 11 thermal setting mist. This will protect hair from the heat and help the curls hold their shape.
Start curling a section of your hair using a 1/2 inch curling iron but make sure you leave the top 2-3 inches on the crown uncurled. Pin each curl to the head with setting pins as you curl. Do this in all sections of your hair.
When finished curling the whole head, leave to set and then when hair has cooled unpin each curl. Run fingers lightly through curls and then gently brush out with a boar bristle brush for more volume.
Back brush the top front section and then sweep the section across the forehead and secure in place with a bobby pin.

Simple and easy to do yet still very stunning and glamorous, this is a hairstyle that anyone can pull off. You can wear it with pieces that are as gorgeous as the ones in the Bottega Veneta show or you can wear it with a simple ensemble. There’s no way you can go wrong with soft cinematic curls especially if you want to add some more drama in your life.
