How to: Lisa Ho’s geometric slick back

Amazing hairstyles are created by artists for occasions like Australian Fashion Week, and for the Lisa Ho show, the task of creating the perfect hairstyle fell on the very capable hands of Alan White. As creative director of ghd, he is not new to designing hairstyles that go well with the collections being presented without stealing the show or looking over the top.

Held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Lisa Ho show was what we can consider as clean, artsy and a little bit futuristic. The collection featured pieces with powerful silhouettes and structural details. From gowns to separates that came in different prints and textures, the show was truly a sight to behold and it was only fitting that it was given an artistic hairstyle. This came in a the form of a geometric slick-back that was both sporty and very modern, not to mention that wet look hairstyles in general are a huge trend for this year. Check out the complete how-to for this 2013 hairstyle after the break.

How to: geometric slick back

Start by prepping towel-dried hair with ghd total volume foam. This will help to more easily achieve the look you want.
Blow dry hair, drying hair backwards and away from the face.

Once you’ve dried your hair, section it using a tail comb from the centre of the forehead diagonally back to the crown area and down towards the nape.

Create a ponytail just below the occipital bone.
Braid the ponytail and fold it up over the nape, securing with pins.

If you want to recreate the runway style exactly, attach a colored hair piece to the braided area. Then, smooth over the remaining hair on top using ghd’s eclipse styler so it becomes one with the hair piece.

Apply ghd smooth and finish serum to the side sections, smoothing down with a ghd natural bristle radial brush.

This surprisingly easy to do hairstyle is perfect if you think you need something a little modern, sculptural and artistic to spice up your look. Aside from that, it keeps you “up to date” with this year’s hairstyles with its slicked back wet-look style.
